The replaced ceramic flat sheet membrane system is designed as single plate module with stainless steel frame which is the most common design used in sewage treatment applications (developed in 2006).
12 years later, the operator of the MBR plant decided to use the latest design generation of CERAFILTEC. The old system was still functional, a proof of the robustness of the ceramic technology. However, the focus of the replacement was to reduce the operational expenses of the plant.

TECHNOLOGY PROSPECTS
CERAFILTEC is currently testing several ceramic flat sheet membrane materials from different producers. Two selected Alumina membrane suppliers are already installed at the benchmark test site and are indicating a significant performance increase using CERAFILTEC’s new module concept.

HIGHER FLUX PERFORMANCE
is expected by using single Alumina ceramic flat sheet membrane plates with CERAFILTEC’s high flux module housing design in sewage treatment applications.
